Polski Rejestr Statków S.A. is an independent classification organization, conducting appraisal activities in the maritime field, and now also in many other industries: metallurgy, construction, automotive, clothing and chemical industries, banking, higher education, health care, or government administration. PRS provides ship and industrial supervision services, as well as certification and training activities.
Established in 1936 as a classification society and now operating as a public limited company, PRS has been providing classification services to the maritime sector for more than 80 years, and in recent years has expanded its activities to other markets as well. Currently, in addition to performing classification and convention supervision of marine, inland waterway and smaller vessels, PRS conducts industrial supervision, offering its supervisory services for the construction, repair and operation of various types of technical infrastructure facilities and equipment. In addition, it offers the performance of technical expertise, technical and financial analyses and technical condition and reliability assessments, as well as technical and investment consulting services - all within the Industrial Supervision Division, a specialized PRS structure.
Also operating within PRS is the Certification Division, which for nearly 30 years has been certifying management systems, certifying welding personnel for steel, aluminum and other metals, as well as evaluating and certifying products for compliance with European Union directives and regulations. PRS currently offers more than 30 accredited and notified certification services for compliance with international and national standards and legal requirements. The Polish Register of Shipping is a member of the International Association of Classification Societies IACS, which brings together the most reputable classification organizations with a worldwide reputation. The association works closely with the IMO - International Maritime Organization, a specialized organization under the UN system.
The Law Firm has started cooperation with the Polski Rejestr Statków S.A. in March 2023. The Team, consisting of Alicja Belgrau and Paulina Jezierska, provides comprehensive legal services for the company, particularly in the area of corporate services, support in the area of concluding contracts and commercial agreements, as well as conducting and representing PRS S.A. in court and administrative cases.
